How do I get DPP 4 to open in El Capitan?

SlickSloan

I have a 5d Mk II and a III, and am running everything through a MacBook Pro.

I updated the OS to El Capitan 10.11.2, and now, suddenly, DPP 4.2.31 will not open.

It bounces around in the dock like nobody's business, but will not launch.

The "Force Quit" feature of the OS confirms that DPP is indeed "not responding."

I went to find the latest version, and downloaded it.

DPP 4.3.31, and I should be good to go.

When I checked the updated version in my applications folder, it still said version 4.2.31

So I deleted the old app, along with all associated files, through an app called AppCleaner.

Re-installed DPP.

Still reading as version 4.2.31

I can't get version 4.3 loaded to save my life.

Nor can I get what does install to open.

Am I alone in this?

Am I missing something obvious?

Please help.

Thanking you in advance,

SlickSloan

Canon software does not automatically get updated.  You have to manually download newer versions when you update your OS version.

Visit the support page for your camera:  https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/cameras/dslr/eos-5d-mark-iii

In the "Software" section you'll see newer versions of the software that you can download and these are compatible with OS X El Capitan.

Thank you for your response.

But I think if you'll read my initial post closely, you'll see that I did just that recommended course of action.

Several times.

The question is not only why DPP 4.2.31 now won't open.

The question is also why a download of DPP 4.3.31 consistently shows up in the Finder as version 4.2.31.

Thank you.
