My camera is really old, it has a broken LCD screen monitor, completely white screen. I dropped it twice on the floor and ever since then it doesn't work properly. I had been taking pictures and videos blindly without looking at the already broken LCD screen, I just check for the footage afterwards using my laptop and a cord and I noticed that the images displayed on the file looks normal, but when I open these images they appear half blank or a portion of the pic is completely misaligned and sometimes in different colors (particularly, green or beige). I decided to turn it on and it took so long, compared to turning it on without the CF card which was instantaneous... I connected the camera into my laptop and my CF card with 512mb storage, but it only displayed 3.18mb on my laptop and not the actual storage capacity of my CF card. I also bought a new CF card in the hopes that the CF card was broken and not the camera however, the same problem was present. Takes a long time to turn on, Does not take pics and only beeps, and the same display of storage capacity of 3.18mb. Is there a problem on the CF card slot? What can I do to fix this?

It sounds like an issue with the card slot. It sounds like it is time to retire the camera. A repair, if you can find a shop with the parts, is cost prohibitive.

the CF card slot or internal controller is damaged—likely from the drops. Repair might cost more than replacing the camera.

Update: It now turns on normally whether I use either cf card, the newer cf card displays its actual storage of 487mb while the other is still the same 3.17mb. Now, whenever I take a pic the first pic plays a capture sound but right after that it doesnt anymore and only beeps. I tried taking a pic then checking the pic through my laptop right away but it seems like it didn't register as my storage was still 487mb.

Greetings ,
The PowerShot V1 is available and is sold world wide. Take Waddizzle's advice and retire your old broken camera that is not worth trying to repair. This is a perfect example of when you need to cut your losses and walk away to move forward.

As others stated, it just isn't worth repairing because you could get something much better for less than the repair cost.
I have never been a fan of CF cards because the connector pins can easily be bent which can also create even further damage depending upon which pins short together. It is definitely a storage media that is best left in the device with all data transfer taking place via the data ports rather than switching cards in and out. There is also significant counterfeiting of card brands and if the knock off company doesn't set the process up properly, the card will bend pins the first time it is inserted. A friend had this bit of fun with a counterfeit Sandisk card from Amazon, they happily refunded her money for the card but that didn't help with a nearly $1,000 repair for the camera 😞
