Vixia HF G30 power on issue

My G30 has developed an issue at power on:

Sometimes it'll power on normally but it's getting rarer and rarer.

Sometimes it'll rack the zoom back and forth all the way several times and "reboot" itself each time but eventually it stays on and then works fine.

Sometimes it'll rack the zoom and reboot several times and then give up and shut down.

It seems to be getting worse with time.

Any ideas?

Hello Farren,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your camcorder. Try cleaning the battery contacts with a clean, dry, soft microfiber cloth. Dirty contacts could cause an issue like this. Do not use any kind of solution when trying this. Have you tried a different Canon battery in the camcorder? I would suggest trying that if possible. Let's also check to make sure that none of the switches seem to be sticking or loose as this could cause that sort of response from the camcorder as well.  I've reviewed our service information and Canon no longer provides repairs for the VIXIA HF G30. This camcorder is considered 'Out of Service Life' and parts are no longer available. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
