VIXIA HF R50 won't power on: How do I get footage off HD?

Doesn't charge anymore.  Cannot get camera to power on.  How would I go about getting footage off the HD?

I can buy a replacement battery.  is there a way to transfer footage from HD?

The HF R50 does not have a hard drive. It records on non-removable internal solid-state media or SD card. You could read an SD card on a computer, but you can't read what's on the internal memory if the camera cannot be turned on.

You need a known-good battery and a charger. Wasabi Power has them, much lower cost than Canon brand.
