Many thanks for your help. No children around in this case. It's just that every time something on my desk bumps up against the scanner, it starts to perform one of its functions. I can relocate the scanner to solve that issue.

I discovered that the Canon IJ Network Scan Utility and the Canon IJ Network Tool are now included in the driver and not available for separate install.
