Is the threading on a Canon camcorder lens the same as the threading on a Canon DSLR camera? I'm trying to buy a lens hood and most listings just say the mm size and the ratio. I don't want to buy something if it doesn't fit.
I believe my Vixia R800 is a 43 mm. If an ad for a lens hood says 43mm for Canon EOS, will that fit?

The thread pitch is probably the same, but also important is the design of the hood so you don't get vignetting.
Use a hood designed for your camera.

I don't know of any EOS lens that has a 43mm. thread.
All that matters as far as the hood attaching is the thread diameter. If the camera indeed has 43mm thread, any 43mm. hood will ATTACH. But you have to consider the SHAPE of the hood and whether it is suitable for the focal-length range of the lens.
