EOS R5C internal rattling sound (No IBIS) after shutter replacement

Hello,

I am writing to get technical clarification regarding my Canon R5C, as I have just received it back from the local service center in Thailand for the second time.

Initially, I sent the camera in for a sensor cleaning and shutter repair. After the first return, the camera came back with a dirty sensor, a new shutter, and a new rattling sound coming from inside the body (noticeable when gently shaking it without a lens or battery, holding the strap rings).

I sent it back for inspection, and while they finally cleaned the sensor, the sound issue was not resolved. As an explanation, the service center claimed this noise is normal and provided a video of another R5C making the same sound. I have videos of both my camera and theirs, which I can attach for your reference.

Since the R5C does NOT have IBIS, could you please clarify exactly what internal part is rattling? Is it related to the new shutter mechanism? I need to be absolutely sure this is by design and safe for commercial shoots.

Thank you, Alex

Greetings,

I don't see two different videos, just 3013, all the same, 15 seconds 🤔.  Maybe I've missed something.

With that said, I've owned my R5 C since release in 2022.  When holding my camera upside down and I gently shake it up and down, it does make a slight rattling noise like what you demonstrated in your video.  It doesn't sound like IBIS rattling which I'm very familiar with In other body's and lenses.  it's more subdued (but present). I didn't shake my camera as vigorously as you did.

it's normal.  There are two things inside the camera that can move "loosely" when the camera is powered off.   One is the fan mechanism.  The other are the shutter blades which when closed remain loose when unpowered.

For clarification, I have my shutter set to close when the lens removed.

To ensure yours is not something external, please do the following:  Use a thumb and finger to secure the LCD when it's folded in and the hot shoe see if it still makes the same noise.  Blue painters tape may also be helpful here.

I suspect it's the fan or shuttler blades and is completely normal.  My camera makes this noise and operates perfectly.
