Diwali in Auckland, NZ

Here the emphasis is on the food and dancing, celebrated publicly over two days instead of the traditional five.  It took place in the centre of the city, and I spent about 3 hours there, shooting and enjoying the action.  The area was very crowded, with lots of food stalls and also activities for all ages.

All images taken with the Canon EOS R6, RF 24-240, hand-held in available light.

Excellent photos with vivid colors. What is the significance of this event? I'm sure others would like to know. Like the idea of food stalls, too.

Hi again!
Thanks for your appreciation.  Rather than type it all out myself, HERE is a link to an explanation on Wikipedia:

Thanks for the link for an interesting observance of a particular religion. Obviously, it would take a lot to type it out! Cheers.
