RS40 WON'T CONNECT- UNABLE TO INSTALL

Just unpacked the photo scanner an as per the instruction downloaded the software. The installation gets as far as connecting the USB cable (and then turn on scanner) but does not recognize any connection. The port on the PC is fine (tried other devices in it). Unplugged/replugged multiple times but does not go any further. #rs40

Hi,
Please try the following:
Open the Control Panel and go to "Administrative Tools" or Windows Tools.
- Start "Services" and look for "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" in the list.
- Click with the right mouse button on this service and select "Stop".
- After that please try to make a scan
