Issue installing Canon CanoScan LiDE 400 software on MacAir 2025 MacOS Sequoia 15.7.1

Hello! I am helping someone install their new CanoScan LiDE 400 scanner on a new MacAir M4, which is running MacOS Sequoia 15.7.1.

Unfortunately I cannot get past the install. I downloaded the software from Canon, and start the install. It takes me to the dialog box where I choose "Start Setup" at top. It then stalls when it is apparently trying to re-connect with the internet. Not sure why it would need to connect with the internet if the software is already downloaded? Please note there is no firewall, no security software, no anti-virus software running. System setting are allowing installs from "known Developers".

I am away from this person's computer now, and unfortunately cannot remember the exact wording it gives when failing to install (which is important, I know).

I tried installing on my home computer (which is also running MacOS Sequoia 15.7.1) and I had NO issues, other than the fact that it ONLY downloaded the Lite version (Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite.app).

I already called Apple to see if it is an issue with installing from an "unknown or 3rd party software". They could not help me, and said it was a Canon issue. I cannot find a way to get Canon support on the phone which is so frustrating. We don't want to register the product yet as the client may be returning the scanner if it will not work. HELP!  Any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi. Thank you for contributing to the Canon Community.

The CanoScan LiDE 400 software package is a small file and does not contain the IJ Scan Utility Lite. It is designed to connect with Canon's server over the Internet in order to download that program directly from our computers. If a computer is having trouble communicating with our server over the Internet while running that package, we recommend downloading the actual IJ Scan Utility Lite (all by itself).

The file that contains the IJ Scan Utility Lite is a bigger file (22.46 MB), but it contains everything you need to install that program (without having to connect with Canon's server over the Internet). You can download the file that installs the IJ Scan Utility from the following website:
https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/canoscan-lide-400

Once the page opens, please click on the Software & Drivers symbol (to the right of the picture of the scanner). Then, make sure that the correct Operating System (Mac) and version (macOS Sequoia) are selected under the Downloads section. Below that, you will see the file that contains the IJ Scan Utility Lite Ver. 4.2.0 (first option listed).

You can click on the Download button for the IJ Scan Utility Lite. When the file finishes downloading, please open it. Then, double-click on the symbol that looks like a cardboard box. After that, you can follow the instructions that pop up to install the IJ Scan Utility Lite.

Once the program is installed, please turn your computer off and restart it (while the scanner is connected to the computer). When the computer finishes turning back on, you should see a folder containing the IJ Scan Utility Lite in your computer's Applications folder. You can open the program from there.

The IJ Scan Utility Lite is the program we recommend for scanning on a Mac computer. It is the only program that you need. It may be possible to use the ImageCapture program that comes with the computer. However, if you need help with that program, you will need to contact Mac (since it is not a Canon program).

If you would like a link to the Apple page that has instructions for using ImageCapture, you can visit the following link:
https://support.apple.com/en-by/guide/image-capture/welcome/mac
When the page opens, you can scroll down until you see the section titled "Scan Items with ImageCapture."

I hope this information helps. Thanks again.
