Dust detection would be nice on document scanners

Just over a decade ago, I upgraded from a Canon DR-2050C to a Canon ImageFormula DR-M160 scanner. It was a huge improvement to get ultrasound detection of a double feed. After having scanned a huge batch of several hundred pages, a few dozen at a time, it was a huge effort to manually check if every page had been scanned, as the older scanner would sometimes double feed.

These two are duplex (two-sided) A4 document-feed scanners, and now I needed A3 format, so I upgraded again this year to a Canon ImageFormula DR-M1060. I really like this design: It is much better to place the input batch flat, than at the top of the scanner. All the old features are still there. By the way, the 12-year-old DR-M160 still works fine, which is remarkable for such an affordable model.

So now it's time for a new wish: In the DR-M1060 User Manual, page 65, it says "Dust or paper particles inside the scanner may cause lines or smudges to appear on scanned images." and "If scanned images contain streaks, or if the scanned documents become dirty, the sensor glass or rollers inside the scanner may be dirty. Clean them periodically." This is indeed true. But such streaks (when a dust particle gets stuck on the glass, making all pixels grey at that position) should be easy to detect in software, right? And this could be used to stop the scanner, just like a paper jam or double feed. Beep-beep! Time to clean the glass! It would be such a useful feature. Are there other scanners that have this?

(Note: This is not a support question, just a feature request. I'm in Sweden and bought my units from a retailer. I have been talking to Canon Sweden on other issues, but for my document scanners I'm just a happy customer.)
