Hi Seaman! Thanks for contributing to the Canon community. I see that you are getting white vertical lines in your scans with your CanoScan LiDE 300.
When you see vertical dark lines, it is a hardware issue (some lamps in the scan bar are not turning on). However, vertical white lines is not common. So we can help you troubleshoot that issue, we will need more information. Please reply to this post with answers to the following questions:
It will help if you upload a scanned JPG or PDF image that shows the vertical white lines with your next post. You can drag that file to the box below your response (where it says Drag and drop here...).
I look forward to your response. Thanks again.

Hello again! Thanks for responding to my questions.
I see that you are using Apple's Default Scanning app (which I assume is ImageCapture). If so, it should provide good quality scans. It may not be necessary to try the IJ Scan Utility Lite, but you could see if it helps.
To continue troubleshooting, I recommend that you initiate a scan with no original loaded on the platen glass. If you scan while nothing is loaded on the glass, the result should be a white image.
If you are getting a white image, I recommend that you load the document using the instructions in the following section of the manual:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/ScanUtility/All/LiDE%20300/1.0/EN/SU/su-823.html
Please be sure that the document or image is pushed up against the corner that has an arrow. If your scan contains vertical lines, I recommend trying the IJ Scan Utility Lite. It can be downloaded from the following website:
https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/canoscan-lide-300
If you are seeing the vertical dark lines (across the page) when scanning an empty platen glass, I recommend that you purchase and use a USB cable that has a Type C connector on one end (for the computer) and a Type Mini-B connector on the other end (for the scanner). The cable should be no longer than 6 feet (maximum length).
If you are still seeing vertical black lines when scanning an empty platen glass after switching cable, the scanner has malfunctioned. I recommend contacting Canon for technical/warranty support.
If you purchased your scanner within the last 12 months and you have a receipt that shows the purchase details, please create a My Canon Account in the following website and register the printer:
https://myprofile.americas.canon.com/us/signin?redirect=%2Fus%2FaddProducts
After that, you can contact the Canon support team at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666), Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST.
Through our Canon Upgrade Program, we can offer you a discount and free shipping on a new scanner if the warranty is expired. If you are interested in that, please call (866) 443-8002 from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday to speak with one of our sales agents who would be happy to help you.
I hope this information helps. Thanks again.

Ok thanks for the help, so I did test with a computer where I can directly connect via USB-A/B and it appears to scan nicely (image below). My other question would be is, what would be the best way to connect via USB-C? It causes white lines and I would like to use it on my main computer without any issues. Thank you very much!
