Hi everyone. I had a weird problem with a C200. Switching to "camera" mode the main power switch is just powering off the camera. I tried several times to circle the modes and I noticed if I'm switching from "media" mode to "lock" mode the camera will work again. Normally the lock mode should block all controls (except the record button) but I can operate all of it. The lock mode only works if I'm switching from media mode immediately. I've tried to switch from the off position but in that case nothing happened. I did not drop it, nor any water damage. Other than this issue the camera works as before. Since it's only a learning tool for me and I'm not working with it I won't try to go to Canon for repair, I assume the repair would cost more than a used C200. Anybody with similar issue? I think all C100/200/300/500 has the same type of switch so if only the switch is the cause that might be an acceptable amount to repair.

Hello sgaron,
It definitely sounds like an issue with the power switch. It's really no way of knowing if it's the switch itself or more of an electronic malfunction going on without having a technician evaluate the unit. You can try resetting the camera to see if that makes a difference. You will find the [Reset] options in the [System Setup] wrench menu tab. If you are considering service, you can use the information below to set that up.
