Pixma Pro-10 - some colors not working even after new print head

dja98

After a year of sitting idle, my Pixma Pro-10 failed to print 3 colors (Red, Yellow and Photo Black).  I cleaned and eventually completely replaced the print head and all ink cartridges - but have the same result.

Anyone else have any ideas on what I can check?

To clarify - the three colors you mention do not print during a nozzle check?

Correct - I ran several cleans and deep cleans, but the Nozzle check always has Nothing for Y, R and PBK entries.

Bumping - anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

If you have already done 2 cleanings and 1 deep cleaning, there may be a issue with the printer and it would require service.

If you printer is outside of it's 1 year warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please the Canon Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.

One thing that works.

get

90% or better Isopropyl rubbing alcohol

Q-tip Brand Q-tips or at least make sure the cotton is on firm you do not want fluffy cotton tips .

you turn on your printer and open the cover triggering the ink carriage to line up for a cartridge change.

now unplug your printers power cable.

now remove the ink cartridge that is not working .

now take a q-tip and dip it in the alcohol.

you are then going to roll the saturated end of the qtip over the area where the ink from your cartridge goes into your printer . (at this time you should not try to scrub it clean your just moistening the area with alcohol) if your q-tip is now whatever color your trying to fix then this step is done .

now quickly place the ink  cartridge back in its carriage.

plug the power cable back in . (the printer should not know you removed the ink if you have done this right) ..

now run the printers cleaning and deep cleaning software. if this worked you will have very bad first few pages but you need to keep printing until it comes out good  , no stopping early . but if first page shows no ink of that color at all then repeat the steps but this time your  going to lightly scrub the ink contact are with the q-tip . dont try to scrub it clean , this time your just trying to break up whatever is clogging the ink  , if there is more then one make sure to only do them one at a time you do not want all of the heads doing this at the same time 🙂 if still nothing your printer has probably had something electrical fail and no software or cartridge fix is going to help . Do not do this at all if it is under Warranty ..... 99% sure this will void it .... though this does work great keeping an older printer or an abused one working for awhile longer.

have a great day 🙂
