imageCLASS MF212w Unable to connect to Wi-Fi, unable to scan

This is the first Canon non-camera I have purchased and things are not going well so far. The software installed but I am still having issues getting it to be wireless albeit that it finds the modem and asks for the password. The toolbox wants a scanner driver to be installed and although it is hardwired to the computer right now and prints from here it will not scan to here - probably that driver that is missing. So where is it and why was it not on the disk? I am on windows 8.2 which is compatible and the beastie is am Image class mf212w. As far as I can tell all the drivers are up to date.

Thanks

Which model do you have?

I have a Canon ImageClass MF212W and it won't scan. I get an error message that it can't connect to a computer (it's connected via USB cable), and my software says the scanner needs a WIA device driver.  Where do I get this driver and how is it installed?

Also, from the computer side I get an error message that no scanner is installed. Seems like a driver issue, but I have reinstalled the drivers to no effect.

This is the first time I've been disappointed in a Canon product. Seriously, I would not have bought this product if I knew the scanner didn't work. Can anyone offer any advice as to how to fix this? Is there an new or different driver available?

I've seen this happen with the imageCLASS series when the scan utility gets hung up or there’s a communication glitch after a Windows update. Usually, doing a full power cycle (unplugging it for about 30 seconds) helps, but you might also want to check if the "WIA" service is running in your Windows services settings. If you're in a rush and just need to get the document digitized while you troubleshoot the drivers, I sometimes use https://thetoolapp.com/camera-scanner-online/ to just snap a clean scan through the browser. It's a lifesaver when the hardware is being stubborn.
