Wireless connection between Canon 7D with WFT-E5 and Mac Pro

Is an Aiport modem required?  Which one?  The distance may be as great as 500 feet.

I really need my printer for school, but I need to set up my printer again, but I lost the usb. Do I just need to go buy another usb? If so, where? If theres another way, please let me know.
