Since I got a new router, my PIXMA MG3520 can't find my computer, even with a cable I bought. And Canon no longer offers technical support for that model, and I really don't want to buy a new one cause I'm unemployed and only use it for personal printing/scanning. I tried downloading new software, but still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PIXMA MG3520 s an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!
You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.
Hope this helps!

A shame they no longer will provide technical support for a printer that worked just fine with older router. Guess they are all going the way of Apple

There's some confusion going on here.
What cable are you talking about? The MG3520 connects to computer by USB (cable), or by WiFi (no cable involved). USB does not involve the router in any way, not the new one or a previous one.
The instructions that come with your printer tell how to install the printer using USB, or with a WiFi connection. Which do you want to do?
Typically, for USB, you have to install all the software on computer BEFORE you connect the printer. Do it wrong and you'll have trouble.

neither one works; software already installed and working with previous router. Ever since I switched to new one, it can't find my computer. So I ordered and adaptor for printer and using USB cable, also doesn't work. I tried downloading Canon's firmware updated software, and still doesn't work either way--wifi or cable.

Greetings,
What operating system version and build are you using the printer with?
Please tell us the brand and model of your new router? Was it issued by your ISP or is it something you purchased? Is it using the same SSID name for all broadcasts? Does it support WPA2 AES encryption for its security?
Using adapters can interfere with correct communication. You'll want to use a USB cable with the correct connections on each end for the printer and computer.
Are you putting the printer into Cableless setup mode before trying to make connection with the router/Wi-Fi?

What "adapter" are you talking about? You don't need an adapter for USB cable connecting. The printer has a USB port.
If computer and printer are within 14 feet of each other, you can use USB, and avoid the complexity of using WiFi. Turn off WiFi on the printer. Having it enabled could be disabling USB.
