Replacing a PIXMA G7020 with an identical model - installation help

David121

I purchased a new PIXMA G7020 to replace my old PIXMA G7020. How much of the installation do I need to do for my new printer? If it is advisable to start from scratch, should I uninstall the "IJ Scan Utility" and the "IJ Printer Assistant"? If I need to uninstall those, I'll probably rename the original canon folder instead just to be sure the new software for those utilities ARE installed in a newly created canon folder.

OS is Windows 10 Pro with all OS and software updates applied.

Hi David121,

To use your new G7020 with your Windows computer, please follow these steps:

1.  On your computer, please press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter R, then let both go.

2.  In the Run window that appears, please type CONTROL and click OK.

3.  In Control Panel, click on View devices and printers.

4.  In the Printers window, please right click the Canon G7000 series Printer and left click on Remove.

5.  Repeat until all G7000's are removed.

6.  Close the Control Panel.

7.  Go to the G7020's Support page to download the driver.  Please use this link:

https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-g7020#DOWNLOADS

8.  Click on Software & Drivers.

9.  Select Windows and your version of Windows from the drop down boxes if not detected.

10.  Click the Download button to the right of "Print Driver and Scan Utility Installer Ver.1.00 (Windows)".

11.  Once that file finishes downloading, please open or run it to begin the installation on your computer.

12.  If you have to search for the file, the name to search for is "md__-win-g7000-1_00-ea34_2.exe".

Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall.
