Professional Print & Layout compatibility with Sequoia 15.2 on MacBook Pro with ProGraf Pro 300

mdeanstrauss

When attempting a print job from my MacBook Pro M1 updated to Sequoia 15.2 using the Professional Print and Layout program I get a error fail... this has happened dozens of times... I am up to date with all drivers and my firmware is 2.0. I've even gone through a basic printer installation again. I am printing via WiFi and had no difficulties before moving to Sequoia. I can print through Lightroom but Professional Print & Layout is a much more elegant approach. Is this a user wide problem? Is there a fix beyond what I've tried? I've seen other comments on this board about similar but no quite the same issue I am having. Are there other aftermarket printing programs that might work better. Help... thanks, Mitch

As suggested above, I purchased Qimage One, which is a nice software platform for printing on the Canon ProGraf Pro 300; however, I learned during the installation of Qimage One that my Pro 300 was functioning with the Apple driver for that printer surreptitiously inserted by my MacBook Pro M1. As per Qimage One instructions, I reinstalled the Canon Printer on the MacBook and properly used the latest Canon driver for the printer. Now, both Qimage One and Canon Professional Print and Layout function properly with the Pro 300. Perhaps because of prior familiarity I give Professional Print and Layout an edge for ease of use. At any rate, problem solved, but at the cost of purchasing Qimage One. Thanks for the previous recommendations.

You could look into Qimage One.

+1 on Qimage One. Solid performer.

You experienced a common macOS problem with Canon printers. When a printer is being added it is necessary to wait until the IJ Series driver appears in the printer list. The Apple AirPrint driver frequently appears first and folks select that.
