Pixma MX492 connection issues

We recently changed internet providers. My new provider uses a gateway rather than a modem so there is no WPS signal to ping the printer.  When I try to connect the printer through the standard connection method I am able to locate the proper network but when I select it it goes dirrectly to connecting ans skips the password entry step. Have others had this issue or is this something new?
