PIXMA MG7720 and Canon IJ Scan Utility 2 software not scanning.

Rickstir

I have a iMac running 15.1 and have a Canon MG7700 with updated firmware, and I am having been using the Canon IJ Scan utility but it no longer scans.  The printer is connected to my router with a USB cable and I can print to it fine as well as other Mac's in the household.

When I try to scan a document, I get the following message;

Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons:

- Scanner is turned off.

- (If using Wired LAN connection) It is disconnected from Wired LAN.

- (If using wireless LAN connection) Signal strength is poor due to obstructions.

- Network connection is prohibited by security software.

- Different scanner on the network is selected.

Check the above and try scanning again.

If you still cannot communicate, restart the computer.

Code:15,157,0

I've turned the printer off/on

Restarted the Wifi router

Restarted the mac's.

I've ensure that printer has up to date firmware and the Canon s/w is up to date as well.

Ive turned my VPN off.

I turned off the Apple firewall.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks for joining the conversation, Rickstir!

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using within the PIXMA MG7700 series.  The model number should appear on the printer's control panel to the left of the power button. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks and have a great day!

Just clarifying - did you install this updated software?
