Greetings,

Microsoft has released a patch which is said to address the scanning failures windows 11 users are experiencing after feature release 24H2 is applied.  Many people have reported issues using ScanGear and the MF Scan Utility.

KB5048667 should download automatically from Windows Update.  If you want to apply the patch manually, you can visit the Windows Update Catalog, download the run the patch yourself.

As of today (February 27th, 2025) Windows 24H2 still causes scanner failure. Additionally, this appears to be happening with other scanner manufactures, not just Canon. Clearly a Windows problem. There is absolutly no way that SOMEONE that works for Microsoft hasn't also experienced this and reported it, which means MS doesn't give 2 sh*ts about its consumers and figures we will just have to wait until they are ready to release a fix. 😞

Windows 11 Canon Scanner Issue After Fresh Install of Drivers
-------------------------------------------------------------
From Dale_1973 on 12-23-2024

1. Run Device Manager, expand Imaging devices.
2. Right <click> your device, <click> Disable Device.
3. Right <click> on it again and select "Update driver" then select "Browse my computer for drivers."

4. Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer."
5. Select your printer model, then NEXT.
6. After a successful re-installation of your drivers, <click> CLOSE.
7. reBOOT System (required).

This workaround seems to have worked for all those who have tried it... YMMV.

Thanks a lot for getting my hopes up!  (I say that jokingly)

Unfortunately, this did NOT work for my Canon MF414.

Thanks anyway.   If you stumble upon any other suggested fixes somewhere, please let me (us) know!!

Just so everyone is aware, it now appears that NordVPN breaks scanner functionality too when connected to VPN.

I have D1620 printer installed Jan 12, 2025.  Canon MF Scan Utility worked fine until last week when it now says scanner is not connected.  Tried suggestions here to no avail.  Called Canon (15 min wait), talked to Robert who solved my issue.

He had me delete all Canon printer installs, then remove the USB connector I was using (I also have wired ethernet  that we kept hooked up).  Then download the latest install package for the printer including drivers ([Windows 64bit] D1650/D1620 MFDrivers (Generic Plus UFR II/ Generic Plus PCL6/ Generic Plus PS3/ Generic FAX/ ScanGear)), dated 2/5/2025.  After install, went to printer setup and changed driver selected from Microsoft's to Canon Generic Plus UFR II V101 (it was in the pulldown list).

Now everything works - printing, scanning with MF Scan Utility, and Microsoft's Scan app.  He said it appears that Microsoft implemented a fix for the issue also.

So all working now for me.  Thanks for the suggestions

Can you help me fix the scanner for
