sx50 a large percentage of pics are not in focus even when green box appears. speed & iso are ok. area i focus on is not clear. why? Using P & Tv mode.

We'd need to see examples of the images with the embedded EXIF data intact.  You can upload them in a reply post or if you already have them shared online you could post a link -- but keep in mind it's the EXIF data that needs to be included.  (this is the embedded information in the image which tells us what settings were being used when the image was taken.)

Canon makes extraordinary cameras. The SX50 does not seem to be one of them.

"Grazie, the SX50 is not a DSLR," - Yes, I know that, but taking some sample SHOTS as explained in that link, of the results, is what I was inviting the OP to do. We need the facts. Could you post a site that has a simpler set of Charts that the OP could use?

However, I've found the SX a great PnS camera for both my Stills and Videos. BTW, my main video camera is the Canon 4:2:2, XF300 with Peaking Focus, Focus Histograms and maginfied Focus control, so I believe I know the advantages of my SX50 and it's limitations. As yet, I haven't found focus an issue. Maybe I've learnt to learn how to wield and tame the tiny beast to my advantage? I might also add that there's a massive body of work being comiles out there in both the Still and Video domain.

Thanks. I think I've kind of figured out how to focus. And I think the process is the same with the SX50 as it was with the SX30. The SX50 is not the camera I expected it to be. Enough said. I might just have to go back to my backup 5D MarK III.

If you do a search on the web, you'll see that this seems to be a sadly common issue with the SX50. Such a HUGE disappointment.

If you post your pics on a flickr account, for example, the requested Exif data (speed, aperture, ISO, camera, lens, etc) will be available when the viewer goes to the pic link and selects "View Exif info" from the 3-dot menu on the lower right pic of the page. Whatever editor you use for your pics might have a way for you to view the data.
