When I turn on my camera, the lens protrudes a bit, and the indicator light flashes yellowish green, and all camera actions ceases no matter which button I press. Sometimes I get an error code of 42, but usually the camera turns itself off. Can anybody give me an explantion as to what is wrong and what if anything I can do to fix the problem? Thanks in advance of any advice. judy

A short search indicates the following for your error code 42:
This usually only happens if the camera is dropped or if the camera has previously been taken apart. The shutter could be manually opened, freeing the hinges; however, this may not fully fix them. In this case, the camera may need to be taken apart so that the shutter hinges can be cleaned and realigned.
