HELP. MY POWERSHOT HAS LOST ONE OF ITS FLASH SETTINGS (THE ONE THAT FILLS IN BACKGROUNDS) AND NOTHING THAT I DO WILL LET ME RESTORE IT. I HAVE TRIED FACTORY RESET, READ THE HANDBOOK SEVERAL TIMES, BUT NOTHING WORKS. OTHERWISE THE CAMERA WORKS JUST FINE.

There isn't really a mode that "fills in the backgrounds".
Here are the flash settings available, you might be thinking about "slow synchro" which uses a slow shutter speed to brighten the background and the flash on the subject.
Thanks for the reply. It is the slo synchro setting that has disappeared. i used to use it for lots of portrait close ups, but it is no longer available.
