Hi. I wanted to try and figure out what was wrong with my camera flash. i know it is old but when i put the flash up and try to take a picture the light will turn green but no flash will go off. I really don’t want to get rid of this camera and want to try and get some assistance to fix it. I have tried resetting the camera and turning it off and on and resetting flash settings so please help!

Greetings,
It sounds like you have done what we might recommend for troubleshooting. Settings reset, etc. Basically there are three things that can go wrong. Faulty flash circuit, mechanical issue or power. If the flash circuit has failed, the camera would require repair or service. A mechanical issue might occur if a camera is unable to detect that the flash up or open. This could be caused by dirt or a faulty sensor. A power issue could be caused by a weak or failing battery. The camera is about 12 years old now. If you believe your battery is in good condition, it's probably not worthwhile to try getting another one. This may be throwing money away.
To my knowledge, this model is no longer eligible for service due to its age. It may be challenging to find a third party to repair it as parts (if needed) may not be available. This is one of those situations where trying to repair, might exceed the cost to replace.
You can check used websites like KEH, MPB and the used departments at Adorama or B&H. Selection for point and shoots may be limited.
Canon is scheduled to release a special edition of the G7x Mark III at the end of April.

Another option would be the R50, R50v or V1.

One or more of the last three models may be available refurbished from Canon. This would give additional savings.

*** I see that the V1 is available refurbished for a great price. (As of this post). If interested, you should act quickly as refurbished products go in and out of stock quickly. Worth noting, buying refurbished from Canon is 100% safe. Their products come with the same one-year warranty as brand new.
