Hi! In need of help/opinion. I was on a trip and was using my camera normally. It was in my purse and the purse fell a small distance onto padded ground. Since then, the lens won’t open. The screen says Err 60, lens error will shut down automatically restart camera. When I turn it on, sometimes it will not open, sometimes it will open a small bit (pictured) but then retract. I went to camera store and they said it is probably a mechanical issue. Another store said it’s not worth getting it fixed. Does anyone with experience have any insight into what I should do or what might be wrong with it?

Sounds like you got good advice. You can certainly send it to Canon to see what they say about it. But I think it is time for a new camera.

Thank you for the reply! Does this happen with canon G7x cameras? Like all the sudden it just stops working? Because it was working great up until then

I don't know, but a sufficiently hard mechanical shock can damage any camera.
