I have the same issue. I had the same settings before (with stmp.gmail.com, using the app password, and 587 port #) with Canon D1620 and started nothing working few days ago. Got error #802, every time doing scan-and-send. I even wiped out all the settings of my printer and reset it again. Still no luck.
Any idea what is going on?

The 802 error will point to a problem with the server name in the email settings. If you have already confirmed that you are using the correct server settings for your mail service, I would suggest contacting support over the phone at 1-800-652-2666. Our agents would be happy to assist with reviewing the settings and checking what might be causing the issue.
