No OCR Support for imageClass devices on macOS?

TryingToScanOCR
Apprentice

Hello,

Canon telephone support just informed me that the imageClass 733C series multi-function printer I recently purchased does not support OCR (Optical Character Recoginition, or in other words, creating a text-searchable PDF of a scanned document) on macOS.

This is one of the primary reasons I purchased this device, it was advertised as being supported, and now I find out that it (apparently) is only supported on Windows.

I just wanted to see if I could get confirmation from the community (and / or any Canon support personnel here) before I investigate my options for potentially returning this device.

Thank you.

Hello,

Unfortunately the OCR software that comes with MF733Cdw does not work on the Mac OS. You can still use the scanner and printer with your Mac but the additional OCR software would not work. In that situation, you can check for any OCR software that works with your specific version of the Mac OS
