MF733Cdw Ink Spots and Smudging

Our office has a MF733Cdw printer, and about 3 months ago we started having ink smudging on the left hand side, about every 1.5" apart, on every printed and copied paper. It also happens with both black and colored printing. We have changed all cartridges between then and now, have run all cleaning and maintenance options, and the spots continue to get worse. Any idea what is wrong with the printer? I am at a loss!

Hi moojuice.

If you haven't yet done so, try the following settings found in the printer's Special Processing menu:

• High Humidity mode
• Low Humidity mode
• Reduce Ghosting 1
• Reduce Ghosting 2

Some of the other Special Processing settings may also help, if the above do not.

We have tried those as well, and no change.

If the special processing options didn't correct the problem, you've done the cleanings, AND all of the toner has been replaced, then the printer may need service.  Our phone-based support is available at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) Monday-Friday from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm ET, excluding holidays.
