No idea what happened, but scan and send to email for gmail stopped working.
Anyone have standard settings? Do I need 2 part authentication for google?
How can I decode the error message? I can't find an error code.

Actual SMTP settings you are using.
Are you using 2FA
If not, "Allow Less Secure Apps" might be turned off in the Security Settings of your Gmail Account.
We can only guess without additional information.

Username = email address
password = good app password that I generated
I have 2 part verification turned on in Google (I can turn this off if it helps the printer settings)
I have App Password turned on, and generated a password for Canon

If you are still unable to scan to Gmail, I would suggest turning the two factor authentication setting off and making sure that the option to use less secure apps is turned on.
