MB 2720 Cannot connect to mail server

rinkugaya

Hi,

I have setup the mail server using the remote UI from my pc and tested the mail server connection to be successful on my web browser. I am using gmail as my mail server. However, when I try to scan document to email it from device directly, it throws an error 3418 which states that the machine failed to connect to mail server.

I have cross checked that the setup is correct as per the canon manual. Can anyone help me out with this issue.

Thanks.

Changing the port to 587 with no SSL and usage of comcast smtp as per the below link helped resolve issue temporarily for now.

But still can send scan using gmail. Please share resolution if available.

Hello.

If the credentialsd are being entered correctly on the printer, the issue would be related to your mail service.  Contact your service provider to ensure that there are no possible settings that are active that would prevent access.

Canon Scan-to-email Error 3418 with Gmail

The problem really is that Gmail requires authentication.

So after creating a Gmail account and email address for your printer, open the printer UI and fill in as per the manual.

Outgoing Mail server = smtp.gmail.com

Port Number = 465

SSL = Yes

SMTP Authentication = Yes

Press OK

Go back to your Gmail

In 'Manage your Google Account - Security',  Setup 2 step Verification

Now set up an App Password for you printer.

Generate the password and copy, then paste it into the Printer UI Outgoing password.

OK
