How to copy 8.5x7 checks with ADF

This brand new state of the art printer doesn't seem to be able to copy the super common 8.5x7 check size with the ADF (automatic document feeder). I tried every possible setting I think and it always hacks off part of the check. Auto scaling, fit to paper, none of it works. Please help!!  Doing this manually is a super chore when our crappy HP was able to copy these in ADF.
