How do I get the MAXIFY GX2020 to NOT save to One Drive!

edwardsebesta

I have a new computer Windows 11. I am scanning things and the Canon 2020 is saving things to One Drive.

I have three times added the save location to local on the computer documents, but it refuses to save it there.

If Canon can't solve this, I am going to get a product that will be able to cope with dealing with Window 11.

DO NOT REPLY UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY KNOW. I am not interested in speculative hypothesis.

1. don't post in all caps; violation of forum rules.

2. since it doesn't happen to me with the settings shown below I guess that demonstrates I actually know.

I already have Sync and Back up with these settings. Even though I stated that don't reply unless you know in all capitol letters, you don't know, but you still replied. You haven't solved the problem in the past, you just didn't have the problem. Your post was based on assumptions and not what you know. I think I was rather clear in not wanting guesses, but you posted anyways.

A clue is that the shortcut to the scan utility is in One Drive. I downloaded it again and it ended up having a short cut in One Drive. Don't know how to fix that. Really, really irritating.

This issue is not related to your Canon product.  It is a configuration problem with your Microsoft operating system and OneDrive.

To resolve you will need to exclude the folder or group of folders that are being protected by OneDrive.

These settings are available by right-clicking the OneDrive icon in you system, tray selecting settings and then click the account tab. There you will be able to add or remove folders included with the sync.

The solution is that on your One Drive menu, you need to go One Drive Icon, then settings, and then to Manage Back Ups, then exclude all the Microsoft office stuff. Immediately icons will pop up for your Office Software on you screen. But you will have to go add the short cuts for snipping tool back in and I am going to do the scanning utility.  All these replies and I end up finding the solution myself. I will look at the advice shadowsport to make sure there are no folders backed up that the above action didn't protect.

Go to the One Drive Icon. Click on Settings. First turn off saving photos from devices. Then turn off Save Screen shots to One Drive.

Then you have to click on the Manage back up button and turn off all the savings there. Though after I have done this, the button doesn't work now. I see other options, but I am not going to test them yet.

If someone knows where online there are good instructions to get One Drive out of your business, post it as a reply.

This solution may not work in the future, and if it doesn't work for you, I really don't know why.

This is a duplicate post.

None of this is related to Canon.
