Help! I used to own canon printers years ago, and switched to Epson because they seemed quicker, and had more clarity in printing both text and photos. When I needed a new printer recently I decided to try the Cannon Max 5G 2020. I've had the printer a little over a month and all of a sudden it takes about 10 minutes to print one photo and about five minutes to print a page of text. This seems totally outrageous Obviously something is wrong.
I've looked from one form to another and cannot find any hints as to what to do. As for getting some direct contact with Cannon in order to have someone help me either through chat or phone has been futile.

Greetings,
Hopefully we can help and get your issue and concern addressed.
Printing delays or issues can have more then one cause. It can be a connectivity issue or something related to software. Drivers, or interaction with 3rd party applications, anti-virus, etc.
You indicated this is a new issue. So things were working previously? Then something changed.
It would be helpful if you can share the version and build of the operating system you're using the printer with?
Also tell us how the printer is connected and to what?
Did you install drivers and if so, which?
Are you seeing any error messages. What are they?
I am puzzled why you say you've had difficulty finding help or contacting support.
Canon has multiple ways to get help / support and to receive assistance. Every product they sell has a support portal.
Here is the one for your printer:
Canon Support for MegaTank MAXIFY GX2020 | Canon U.S.A., Inc. https://share.google/52QLszQ2Yjxxjlk7B
I see several ways to contact support or get help. 🤔 Phone, chat, knowledgebase, and more.
Phone support is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 6:00 Eastern Standard Time. If you call during business hours, they'll answer the phone. 1-800-652-2666.
I also recommend you register your device. You can do this in your MyCanon account.
https://myprofile.americas.canon.com/us/
Support and help is available there too. 😉
Canon USA home page... Support, support, support. Canon wants to ensure you have a good experience.
And of course you have fellow Canon users here in the Canon community.
We are happy to try to help you here or you can use any of the methods above to contact Canon directly and receive official support.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I will try the things you mentioned. I did register and have a portal but when I looked for support, it always brought me to FAQ's or the like - no direct support line (thanks for the one you provided). Now - not finding the info I might need may very well be due to user error. (My tech guy - my son - lives 14 hours away and couldn't help) - I finally decided to see if there was a forum such as this. I'll try Canon support directly and if no luck will report back here. (Yes - printing text worked - but anytime I tried to print photos / etc. using the Canon printer app - they came out - but after a looooong wait.) I could get at least =3 4 x6" prints in a minute on my old Epson before it died.) Again - thanks for your help
