Cannot clean fixer assembly

Have a canon color imageclass MFC733cdw.  It is streaking on one edge and fading.  I have multiple times completed a full adjuston the auto adjust gradation. this has neither helped with the fading or the edge smuging. Everything I read says clean the fixer assembly.I have made sure all the pending documents have been removed.  but I am stull being told by the machine that it "CANNOT CLEAN FIXER ASSEMBLY" What do I try next?

Another reason that the cleaning may fail is if one of the toner cartridges is running low or it is empty. The cleaning uses toner to process the cleaning. If you have confirmed that there is sufficient toner, then we will have to recommend that you call us at 1-800-OK-CANON (652-2666), Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET (excluding holidays).
