Can't print on rear tray keep getting roller cleaner error. Even after cleaning it. (Maxify GX5020)

I have a canon Maxify gx5020 and on Thursday when I was printing on the rear tray I got an error code to roller clean the rear tray. So I did and tried printing again but got the same error. So I did a roller clean on the main tray then a deep clean. The problem still persists. I tried again this afternoon and I was able to print 1 page before it gave me the same error code about the roller cleaning. I am able to print from the main tray but I need the rear tray to print on card stock as the main tray will get jammed.

Please help me as this printer has given me nothing but headaches the past 2 years.

Hello, 

The code would point to an obstruction in the paper path, or the roller is dirty and can't grab the paper properly. You can try turning the printer around and wiping the roller with a damp cloth. After that, you can try printing on stiffer paper like cardstock to see if it clears any obstructions. If that does not resolve the issue, it looks like the printer needs service. I would like to know what worked for you on this. I had the same problem couple of months ago and finally took it for service. It worked perfectly in the shop and I brought it home and it did it again. So I took it back and they decided it needed a new print head and I paid an arm and a leg for that which I honestly can't see how was necessary since I hadn't even used a full bottle of ink yet. I'm getting the same error again and I'm really frustrated.
