SELPHY CP1500 trouble setting up app, box missing items

I am trying to setup the photo printer (CP1500) and when I download the app to my phone (Android version 8.0.0) I don't get the page to choose the printer I am trying to connect to.  I think that the printer was already used because the box didn't include the manual and the 5 printing papers.

I managed to connect it once. It's either the app or the device that has connectivity issues.
