EOS Webcam Utility doesn't recognize my EOS R6 Mark II

AmySue

I have an EOS R6 mark II and I have been struggling with getting the EOS Webcam Utility to recognize that my camera is connected to the computer.  (FYI I am not using Pro, just the regular Webcam Utility)

I am using a USB-C data cable that I use on an external HD for data transfer and have never had any issues with that cable when using it with the hard drive.

On the camera screen it shows that the camera is connected to a computer

But in OBS it shows the EOS Webcam Utility screen with an X over a USB cable

I see that canon sells a USB-C cable - https://www.usa.canon.com/shop/p/interface-cable-ifc-100u?color=Black&type=New

Will this cable solve my connectivity issue?  Or am I missing something else?

Thanks!

Hello AmySue,

You actually don't need the EOS Webcam Utility in your case. The EOS R6 Mark II has a menu option that you can set which will allow you to connect the camera to your computer and go directly to OBS for live streaming. In the camera menu (yellow wrench tab #5), look for Choose USB connection type. In the menu list for this option, choose Video calls/streaming.
