I have been a long time user of Canon's webcam utility and the recent Sequoia update broke the camera being able to connect with the software and it no longer shows up in the utility software or any of the web conferencing apps (Zoom, Teams, WebEx, etc.). I know this is a known issue but the updated software 2.2.24 that was supposed to fix the issue has not resolved the problem.
I have upgraded the Mac (MacBook Pro 16" M3) from webcam utility 2.2.22 to 2.2.24 and it is still showing the same behavior of not connecting. I have done a complete uninstall of the utility, re-installed a fresh copy and have checked all the system settings to allow the extension and camera in MacOS. I have also checked and swapped the USB cable with no change.
Looking around on the forums I see some users are having similar issues, any suggestions?

Hi webcam_user,
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with the EOS Webcam Utility after the update. To trouble shoot this we would need a little bit more information. What camera body are you using? Do any error messages show on the camera or your computer when you try to connect them? Is other software able to detect the camera when it is connected to the computer?

Thanks for the reply, here are more details about the system and behavior.
Mack 16" M3 Pro
MacOS 15.0.1 Sequoia
Camera Canon 80D
Firmware 1.0.3
The system does not show any error message when connecting the camera to the Mac. When using the Canon Webcam utility I simply get a black screen with the words "EOS Webcam Utility" and this is the same behavior when trying to use Zoom or Teams. The camera has power and all menus / functions seem to work fine.
I have done a clean uninstall and reinstall of the webcam software (2.2.24) multiple times with no change. I have rebooted the Mac and Camera as well with no change in behavior. I have swapped USB cables from the Mac to the camera with no change in behavior.
I have also verified that the Canon Software is enabled in the Mac's Login Items Settings and that EOSWebcanService under the "Camera" section in "Privacy & Security" is also enabled.
Please let me know if you need any additional info to try and troubleshoot the issue.
Thanks!

Setup: Mac Mini Apple M2
MacOS: Sequoia 15.0.1

Always showing not connected since updating

Please don't post the same thing on multiple threads. That is considered spam.

Hi Stephen,
Are you able to provide any useful update or information regarding this issue? The latest version of EOS Webcam Utility has not resolved the issue.

Hi mr_upgr8d, webcam_user, and crabrave,
I'm sorry to hear you are also having issues with the EOS Webcam Utility recognizing your camera on mac OS15. One thing to check with your EOS 70D, EOS Rebel T6i, and EOS 80D is to make sure the wifi is disabled on the camera. If the wifi is enabled on those three camera models it disables the USB port.
To check that on mr_upgr8d's EOS 70D press the Menu button, go to the third yellow wrench tab, and make sure Wi-Fi is set to Disable. Once you've done that check to see if the same thing is happening.
For webcam_user's EOS 80D press the Menu button, go to the first page under the yellow wrench tab, select Wireless Communication Settings, and make sure Wi-Fi/NFC is Disabled.
For crabrave's EOS Rebel T6i go to the first yellow wrench tab and make sure Wi-Fi/NFC is set to Disable.
Another thing to check would be to try using a different USB cable. Sometimes if the cable has degraded it can cause communication issues. If you need a new cable all three of your cameras use a Mini-B to Type-A USB cable. That is a standardized cable type that should be available in most electronics stores and online electronic retailers.
If the issue continues after checking those things then the next thing to double check would be to see if your camera is being recognized by other software. If you have our import software EOS Utility installed is the camera recognized there? A different piece of software to check would be the import software built into the mac operating system. That is called Image Capture. Either of those pieces of software should be able to detect the cameras once the USB is connected.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
I have gone through your steps with unfortunately no change in behavior. I checked the 80D and WiFi is disabled. I have tried three different USB cables that I verified work with other electronics devices and there is no change in behavior. I also tested the connectivity between the camera and Mac with Image Capture and the Mac is able to see the camera correctly so I know I have good communication / cable between the Mac and camera.
I went ahead and did another uninstall and fresh install of 2.2.24 on Sequoia 15.1 with no change. The camera still does not appear in the EOS utility or in Zoom or Teams web conferencing software.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
