What type of connection are you trying to establish?

EOS 5D Mark II only has a USB connection, and there's no settings for this.
You can use a wireless file transmitter WFT-E4 / WFT-E4A that is like a battery grip that attaches the camera. This would then display extra menu options for communication settings.

If you are coming from an old DSLR, Canon had two "communication settings" : PC Communication and PTP. As things evolved, those settings were no longer necessary and don't appear on newer cameras.

Agreed this used to be a setting on older DSLRs, but not for the EOS 5D Mark II. I can find the communication menu in the first ESO 5D with Print PTP / PC connect options.
