I have tried the Canon Connect app for copying photos from my EOS2000D to my andriod smartphone but found it totally unuseable.
Does anyone know of any other way to transfer photos please ?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike P1,
What's totally unusable? I use it frequently on the road and find it very convient for sharing photos. Tell us more about your use case.

MikeP1,
I personally use an app called Camera Connect and Control. This a paid app that you can get on the Google Play Store. It works in both wired and wireless modes. When I got it several years ago, they had a 3-day free trial. I don't know if they still offer that or not. The T7 is on their list of supported cameras.

Make sure wireless communications are enabled. The camera doesn’t know how to switch on its own.

You can get an SD card reader that connects in to the USB-C port of most modern Android phones. Then you can take the SD card out of the camera and put it in the card reader, then the normal file apps or photos apps should allow you to copy the images from the card to your phone.

I have tried connecting a card reader. The connecting lead from the reader ends in a standard usb connector. I used a female to female usb connector to get a connection to the socket on the camera. The light on the card reader does not illuminate. Is there something I need to do on the camera ?

The light on the camera flashes indicating that wffi is on.

I have downloaded a free version of this app. My phone is in the supported list. The first thing the app tries to do is establish wifi connectivity with the camera. I have wifi switched on for the camera and the wffi light is flashing. Automatic connection did not work so I tried manual with the IP address shown on the camera settings but this does not connect either.

Which files are you trying to transfer to your Android phone?
The following is from the Play Store:
Compatible File Types
JPEG、MP4、MOV
・Importing original RAW files is not supported (RAW files are resized to JPEG).
・MOV files and 8K movie files shot with EOS cameras cannot be saved.
・HEIF (10 bit) and RAW movie files shot with compatible cameras cannot be saved.
・AVCHD files shot with Camcorder cannot be saved.

MikeP1,
At any point, are you asked to supply the password? The camera will give you that on your connection screen.
And both your wi-fi and Bluetooth are enabled on your phone?
