My camera stopped recording sound, even if you set it to auto or manual the audio level stays constant. I tried clearing all settings and updating the firmware but all in vain. the same with recording time. the camera now records for only 8 seconds and stops automatically, I changed cards, lenses, and batteries but nothing seems to be working. what could the problem?

To help you, we would really need to know what kind of camera you have. I mean I would guess that it's digital, and probably a Canon product, but an actual model number would really help.
All I can say on reading your post is that it sounds like something is borken. If it's not the memory card or the battery, then maybe it's the camera. Is it under warranty?

Jotham-sk,
It sounds like you may have your video snapshots turned on.
Put your camera in video mode and go into your Menu settings. Look for video snapshots and see if that is Enabled. If it is, change it to Disable.
