Rp manual focus

Hi I just upgraded to a RP from a EOS 700d .

i have bought the mount to make sure my old Efs lenses are compatable .
Everything seems to be working fine except for one thing - when in manual focus and I have press the shutter and turn the focus wheel there is no “ beep “ and there is no box that turns green to let me know I’m in focus . What am I doing wrong ? I can see in the display it’s focusing but there is no visual or Audio to tell me when im in focus .
in auto both the beep and green box work fine .
I have tried everything from updating firmware , restoring factory settings , trying everything in the menus ….

Steve,

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. When you are in manual focus, I don't think you get any beeps or green boxes, because you have disabled autofocus, and those aids communicate with your camera electronically.

What you can do is enable focus peaking. That will be in your menu system, and is a big help.

Ah ok . On my old eos 700d this is the way I focused in manual focus . With the shutter button half pressed and while turning the focus wheel on the lens I would hear a beep and the focal point would turn green . I presumed it would be the same on the rp .
So there  is no way the camera notifies you  when you are in perfect focus manually ? Thats hard to believe !

Steve,

It sounds like you have Lens Electronic MF enabled on your camera. That's good. Not all models support this, and you also have to have a lens that supports it.

I guess I shouldn't speak to the beeping. I have mine disabled, so I never hear it anyway.

I don't have an RP. I have the DSLR model T8i, and if I use Live View, I have focus peaking enabled. While in Live View, I can magnify the image 5X or 10X and fine tune my focusing. Focus peaking does not work in the magnified view, only during normal view.

I'll have to look into the  green box, but I just don't think that works in Manual focus.
