Hi all, part of my job is shooting keynotes for external-facing events for my company. While I shoot a lot of photos for the entire keynote, there's almost always a "live tweet" list of shots that, once I take the photo, I need to quickly get it to my phone and get it onto the cloud in a couple of minutes so our social team can publish it when we make announcements.
I shoot on the R5 and R5C. Currently, my process is to connect to my camera with my phone via wifi and use the Canon Cam Connect app, select the photos I want and wirelessly transfer them to my phone. Anyway, that's all fine and dandy.
My real problem is that keeping the wifi connection established while I'm shooting seems impossible. The connection almost always times out or I hit a button on my phone which automatically disables it and then I have to sit and reconnect again (and again and again and again).
I've updated to the latest firmware for both cameras and don't see a way to tell the camera to just keep the wifi connection going regardless of what I do. The battery strain wouldn't be an issue. Ideally, I'd connect at the beginning of the keynote (only to one of the cameras, of course) and just leave it. Having to sit and re-establish the wifi connection has been a big bottleneck in the process. I've always made the upload deadlines but it's frantic and chaotic.
Is this issue fixable or will I want to invest in an external wireless transfer device?

Hello Kibouchi,
Are you using the Camera Access Point mode to connect or using a local wireless network for the connection? I would ask that you check the wireless settings on your smart device if you are using the Camera Access Point mode. Most smart devices now will automatically switch off of a "network" that doesn't have internet connectivity available. This happens often with our cameras as they would not support an internet connection.
