I'm using my R5 to take raw images for time-lapse video. I'd like to use the camera's internal intervalometer, but its counter is limited to two digits, or a maximum of 99 images. Is there a reason for this limit? Having a 3, or even 4 digit counter would be most helpful.
Yes, I know I can use an external intervalometer, but if the intervalometer feature has been designed into the camera it seems odd to have this rather arbitrary limitation.

We are not Canon, so we cannot say. I know of no way to effectively report this kind of feature request, either, but I suppose, this forum is as good as any.

To provide product feedback to Canon, go to Canon USA, scroll to the bottom and click on "Feeback" (under the "Contact" section of links). Then choose "Product".

Follow the wise advice given above. Contact Canon, and refer to your User Manual. I would venture a guess that if you set the count to “00”, the camera will keep taking shots until the battery dies on you.

Thanks for the comments. I've sent feedback to Canon as suggested by rs-eos, but I'm not really expecting to hear back from them. I've not tried setting the counter to '00' for continuous interval shooting, but I'll give that a try as well. For now, it's back to my external intervalometer.
Oh, and yes, I've read the Advanced Manual - all 927 pages 🙄, but I'm always open to suggestions.
Thanks again.

Well you missed something:

kvbarkley, it's not clear what you're pointing out to me. I do see that '00' gives continuous interval shooting, but I still don't see a way to have the sequence stop at more than 99 shots. My needs typically call for 400-800 unattended shots. I'd rather not have the camera continuing shooting forever.
But thanks for your comment.

I don’t think I was clear about setting the interval to “00”. What I mean is to set the total number of interval shots to “00”. That should take you past the 99 shot limitation.
