R3 Exposure Dispaly

I have a R3. On the display (both on the back screen and what I see I. The view finder)... The exposure meter is vertical on the right.

I want it on the bottom where it normally is.

How do I get it back on the bottom?

The classic position for exposure metering is on the right.  This is dating back to film days.

A scale along the bottom is typically showing exposure compensation many of the DSLRs.  This can vary from one series of cameras to the next, as some would also integrate Flash EC into their displays.

As far as changing it goes, I doubt if that will happen.  The subtle differences between on series of cameras has been a long standing tradition, IMHO, with Canon bodies.  It could happen.  I just doubt that it ever will.

There does appear to be a setting in the manual that allows the user to select a “VF Display Format”.  The Instruction Manual does not provide illustrations of the differences.

This is what I found in the R3 manual that defines the EVF icons.  Everything I find only shows the exposure display on the bottom, never on the right.

This is what is found in the 1Dx III, which does show exposure displays on the right and on the bottom.  Only a couple other DSLR models are similar.

Try pressing the "INFO" button to cycle through the various displays.

Ok. Thanks!

The "info" button didn't do anything sadly.

I believe the traditional metering is at the bottom. Take a look at the display picture in the settings. It is at the bottom. I have it selected.

Any other thoughts?

Does the Viewfinder Display Format menu option resolve your issue?

Th view finder display menu selections show the exposure on the bottom. But when I select and save them... My exposure meter remains on the right.
