Image Count on EOS R5 Camera Card

Is there a way to look at your menu and find out the number of shots you have taken on your camera card?

For example, I can look at the back of my camera and see that I have taken 1001 shots?

I looked in the manual and online and could not find an answer.  Thanks for your help.

I believe the camera display provides an estimate of how many remaining shots you can take before you run out of space.  When you take a photo, does that “1001” figure increase or decrease?

One method to keep track of how shots you have taken is by noting the file numbering of the image files.  I think knowing remaining space is more important than number of shots taken.

Unfortunately, that service doesn’t work for Canon files.

The camera will display the actual number of shots currently taken with the existing battery.  This is in the menus under Battery info if I recall.   

If the camera has a top LCD, that shows the estimated number of possible shots. For body's without the LCD, this is displayed in the viewfinder.  

Total shutter count is completely different.  This has to be read and reported by Canon Service.  None of the old shutter count software works with newer Canon body's, nor with services where you upload an image as Waddizzle mentions.  🙂

There are two ways to see the number of shots stored on a memory card.

1. While reviewing the image, press the INFO button, and in the top right corner you will see the image number and number of files on the card. So if you are viewing image 867 and you have 923 images on the card you will see 867/923

2. Press menu, go to the yellow "wrench" menu, and select the top entry on page one, and go to create folder, this will show you the folders on the card already, and the number of images in each folder on the card.

If all you want is to know how many pictures you have taken in a single section you could check your battery info. This counter is kept until you change the battery.
