I got my first camera! The Canon EOS R7!!! Any tips or hints?

I was debating between the the a6700 and the r7. The a6700 took my brain and the r7 took my heart. I know I could've gotten a cheaper camera especially since i'm completely new but it is what it is.

So far, i'm just taking pictures (some ivideos)and tinkering with the attributes. I'm getting confused the AF but i'll get there in time.

Any tips or hints for the R7 or anything in general?

Congratulations on joining the Canon family.

This guy is "quirky" but presents excellent (IMHO) training videos.

Depending on the subjects you are interested in there are a myriad of YouTube videos on AF settings.

wukanbu1,

I'd encourage you to download a copy of your User Manual,  either in html or in pdf format.

You can find a copy here

 https://cam.start.canon/en/C005/

That way, you can search for answers to specific questions.

Congratulations on your new camera.  John and Steve have given you excellent advice already.  The users manual and you tube videos were key in helping me set up my camera back when I came aboard, welcome to the community.

Welcome to the Canon Community. There is a trainload of information here. I check in twice a day just for the information even though it might not relate to my T7 camera.

Story: We had a young lady taking photos of the Sunday school classes for the church archives. I checked with her: Canon EOS R7 and a lens, if my memory serves me, a 24-70mm lens (?). She said it was an excellent camera. I told her about the community as an excellent resource for all Canon products.
