How to Download Photos from an EOS Rebel XS to a Computer

I cannot get the pictures from my Rebel XS to upload to my new PC laptop. So I tried to upload to my old desktop. I can't get the pictures uploaded there either. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but at least you will know it's possible. I have an XSi so I dug it out and connected it to a Dell XPS laptop running Windows 10 pro and an HP laptop running Windows 11 home, both up to date. The XSi connected to both systems and opened EOS Utility 2 with all of the download and connection options available. The rear LCD of the camera also had the download options displayed. The camera also showed in file explorer as an SD drive with no drive letter.

I think kvbarkley is correct in suggesting a new cable. I did go through the menu items and didn't see a PC/PTP option. TBH, it's been so long since this camera was set up, I just don't remember how I configured it. Nonetheless, it still connects to my modern Windows systems. I think I was running XP and Win 7 when I last used it.

Thank you. I don't get the menu on the camera like I did previously. I'm worried about the camera now.

I'll try a new cord.
